Indaver applies for Industrial Emissions licence

Indaver submitted an Industrial Emissions licence application and an Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on July 19 2019.

The application relates to the company’s proposed Resource Recovery Centre in Ringaskiddy which received planning permission on May 31st, 2018. The project is currently the subject of a judicial review process and a decision is expected from the High Court this year.

An Industrial Emissions licence is required under EU law, specifically the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED). As part of Indaver’s planning permission, the company is obliged to apply for its licence in advance of construction and operation of the Resource Recovery Centre.

On January 13th, 2016, Indaver submitted a planning application to An Bord Pleanála for a waste-to-energy facility in Ringaskiddy. The facility will treat household, commercial and industrial waste, generating electricity for export to the national grid. An Bord Pleanála granted planning permission for Indaver’s proposed waste-to-energy facility on May 31st, 2018.
